Guide · Cheap SEO Tools 2026

Cheap SEO Tools That Are Actually Good (2026): $0 to $50

Cheap SEO tools are easy to find, but good ones are harder, because the number on a pricing page is often the yearly rate, and the limits that decide whether a plan works sit three clicks down. Our pick is ContextBolt SEO, at $35 a month inside the AI assistant you already use. ContextBolt is ours, so weigh the bias.

Here is the kind of thing this list is for. Mangools shows $37.70 a month in big type, and charges $61 if you pay month to month. Serpstat shows $50 and charges $69. Neither is hiding anything. You just have to find the toggle.

So we read every pricing page below on October 22, 2026, and wrote down three things for each tool. What it really costs a month. What the cheap plan caps. And who it suits. Everything here costs $50 a month or less on at least one billing option, and two of the tools are free.

One honest note before the list. The best cheap setup is usually two tools, not one. A free tool for your own site’s real numbers, and one paid tool for everything outside it, like keywords you do not rank for yet and what your competitors are doing.

Quick answer
  • ContextBolt SEO is the pick. SEO data inside Claude, Cursor, Codex or ChatGPT, on any domain. Try it free for 7 days, then $35 a month for 1,000 credits, with no contract.
  • Google Search Console is free and shows your real Google clicks and rankings. Everyone should have it.
  • Ahrefs Free adds a free site audit and your own backlinks, for any site you verify.
  • Ubersuggest is the cheapest full suite at $29 a month in the US, and its MCP server works on a free account.
  • Keywords Everywhere is the cheapest paid data, $84 a year for 100,000 keyword credits.

Prices read on each vendor’s own pricing page on October 22, 2026, in US dollars. Ubersuggest localizes its plan cards, so its US price comes from the US dollar figures on the same page.

How we picked these cheap SEO tools

Most “cheap SEO tools” lists copy the headline price and stop. We read the plan underneath, because a $29 plan that caps you at one site is a different buy from a $35 plan that does not.

  • Real price: the month-to-month price, with the yearly rate beside it. If a tool only fits $50 on yearly billing, we say so.
  • The cap: daily searches, projects, credits, rows. The number you will actually hit.
  • Who it suits: one job each tool does well, and who should skip it.
  • Where you use it: a web app, a browser extension, or inside an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT.

Two things did not make the list. Suites that start above $50 a month on every billing option, which we cover in what we left out. And group-buy sites that resell shared logins to other people’s accounts. You do not own the account, so the access and your saved work can go at any time.

Ranked by how much good SEO work each one does on a small budget. Every card says who the tool suits, and ours also says who should skip it.

1. ContextBolt SEO

Best for SEO in your AI assistant

ContextBolt SEO puts SEO data inside the AI assistant you already use. You connect it once with one URL, then ask in plain English. How hard is this keyword. Who ranks for it right now. Which sites link to my competitor and not to me. Audit this page and tell me what to fix first.

It covers five jobs on one plan. Keyword and competitor research, page audits, backlinks, AI visibility, and your own Google Search Console, connected free. You get 1,000 credits a month and spend them on any domain. A keyword check costs one credit, a backlink check three, a live AI answer check two, and a site audit one credit per page, up to 50 pages a run. Search Console never spends credits.

A keyword opened in the SEO Dashboard: 165,000 searches a month, difficulty 23, transactional intent, cost per click and traffic potential.

An example keyword in the SEO Dashboard. Searches, difficulty, intent and cost per click, with a one-line read on whether it is within reach.

Every result saves to your SEO Dashboard, a private page you can come back to, filter, and run the next check from. Ask about the same keyword next month and the answer leads with what changed.

Here is why it ranks first on a cheap list when $35 is not the lowest price here. The numbers land in the chat where you are already writing the page, so the assistant reads them and drafts the fix in the same place, with no copying between tabs. The keyword research with Claude guide shows what a session looks like, start to finish.

Pros
  • Research on any domain, from one credit balance
  • Works inside Claude, Cursor, Codex or ChatGPT
  • Live AI answer checks in ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity
  • Search Console connected free, with daily snapshots
  • Every result saved to your SEO Dashboard
Cons
  • $6 more a month than Ubersuggest Individual or Ahrefs Starter
  • Needs an AI app that accepts a custom connector
  • Card required for the trial, which carries 100 credits
  • Rank checks run when you ask, not on a schedule

Best for: founders, marketers and small teams who do their own SEO and already work in an AI assistant.

Skip it if: you only need your own site’s numbers, which Search Console gives you free, or you never open an AI assistant and want a keyword table to click through instead.

Pricing: 7-day free trial with 100 credits, card required. Then $35 a month for 1,000 credits. Cancel any time.

Verdict: the pick if you already work in Claude, Cursor, Codex or ChatGPT. One balance covers keywords, competitors, backlinks, audits and AI answers on any site you name, and nothing you look up gets lost. Start with the 7-day free trial.

I was looking for a fast way to get real SEO data without learning yet another dashboard. ContextBolt nails that… I can ask for keyword difficulty, SERP overviews and competitor research in plain language, right in the tool where I already do my work.

2. Google Search Console

Best free tool

Google Search Console is Google’s own report on your site. Real clicks, impressions and average position, the search queries behind them, and which of your pages are in Google’s index. Every paid tool on this list estimates those numbers. This one does not.

The catch is scope. It only covers sites you can verify you own. It cannot show you a competitor, a keyword you do not rank for yet, or who links to a rival. That gap is what the paid tools on this list are for.

Pros
  • Free, from Google itself
  • Real clicks and queries, not estimates
  • Shows indexing problems on your own pages
Cons
  • Your own verified sites only
  • No keyword ideas beyond what you already rank for
  • Shows what happened, not what to do next

Best for: everyone with a website, next to whichever research tool you pick.

Pricing: free.

Verdict: set it up first, whatever else you choose. It connects to ContextBolt SEO free and never spends credits, and the Search Console connection guide walks through it. If your own Search Console inside Claude is all you want, a free Search Console MCP server can do that, and here is how the two compare.

3. Ahrefs Free

Best free audit

Ahrefs renamed Ahrefs Webmaster Tools to Ahrefs Free. It gives you three of its tools at no cost on any site you verify. Site Audit checks for 170+ technical and on-page issues. Site Explorer shows the keywords your pages rank for and who links to you. Web Analytics counts your visitors without cookies by default.

The limits are generous for a free plan. An unlimited number of verified sites, 5,000 Site Audit crawl credits per site a month, the top 1,000 backlinks and keywords visible in Site Explorer, and up to 1 million Web Analytics events per site.

When you want competitors and new keywords, Ahrefs Starter is $29 a month. Ahrefs’ MCP server and API start on Lite, at $129 a month.

Pros
  • A proper site audit, free
  • Your own backlinks and keywords from Ahrefs’ index
  • No limit on verified sites
Cons
  • Verified sites only, so no competitor research
  • Top 1,000 rows only in Site Explorer
  • MCP needs Lite at $129 a month

Best for: site owners who want a free technical audit and a look at their own links.

Pricing: free. Starter is $29 a month, Lite $129.

Verdict: the best free add-on to Search Console. When you need research on sites you do not own, see how ContextBolt SEO compares with Ahrefs.

4. Ubersuggest

Cheapest full suite

Ubersuggest is Neil Patel’s SEO suite, and for a lot of people it is the first SEO tool they pay for. Individual is $29 a month in the US, the bottom of a published US range that runs to $99. Prices localize by region, so check yours at checkout.

Here is what Individual includes. One project, 150 reports a day, 250 monthly credits, 125 tracked keywords updated weekly, a 1,000-page site audit each week, and 10 AI prompts per brand, refreshed monthly. Monthly plans come with a one-time 7-day free trial. Every plan is also sold as lifetime access, and lifetime purchases are final, so use the trial first.

It also runs inside AI assistants. Its MCP server works in Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and Windsurf, there is a ChatGPT app, and a free Ubersuggest account is enough to use it. Your plan sets how much data comes back.

Pros
  • One of the lowest monthly prices for a full suite
  • MCP server works on a free account
  • Keywords, audits, rank tracking and backlinks in one place
Cons
  • One project on Individual
  • Rankings and audits update weekly
  • AI prompts refresh once a month

Best for: one-site owners who want a full suite at the lowest monthly price.

Pricing: free account with daily limits. Individual $29 a month in the US, up to $99 for the top published plan.

Verdict: the cheapest full suite here, and a fair one. If one project or monthly AI checks are the limit you keep hitting, the best Ubersuggest alternatives guide covers the next step.

5. Keywords Everywhere

Cheapest paid data

Keywords Everywhere is a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox and Edge. It is free to install, and paid credits add search volume, cost per click, competition and a 12-month trend next to your searches on Google, YouTube, Amazon and other sites. One credit is one keyword.

Bronze is $84 a year, which works out to $7 a month, for 100,000 credits a year and one user. It also shows the top 1,000 keywords and backlinks for any website. All plans are billed yearly, and credits expire a year after you buy them.

It has an MCP server too, so Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code can ask for keyword metrics, a site’s keywords, traffic and backlinks. Every MCP call spends the same credits as the extension.

Pros
  • The cheapest paid keyword data here
  • Numbers appear while you browse
  • MCP server on the same credits
Cons
  • Yearly billing only
  • Credits expire after a year
  • Every keyword you look at spends a credit

Best for: bloggers and writers who mostly want search volume while they research a post.

Pricing: Bronze $84 a year for 100,000 credits. Silver $168 a year for 400,000.

Verdict: the best $7 a month in SEO, if volume numbers are what you need. It is a data layer rather than a workflow, so it pairs best with Search Console.

6. SpyFu

Best for competitor history

SpyFu is built around your competitors, and its strength is history. It shows which keywords a rival has ranked for and bought ads on going back 10+ years. Basic is $39 a month, or $29 a month billed yearly.

Basic gives you 10,000 rows per search and per export, one site tracking project, 5,000 tracked keyword rankings updated weekly, and a site audit of 50,000 pages a month, up to 500 per crawl. Its ChatGPT integration is limited on Basic. Pro + AI is $59 for the first month, then $119 a month. SpyFu offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Pros
  • 10+ years of competitor ranking and ad history
  • Generous rank tracking for the price
  • 30-day money-back guarantee
Cons
  • Row caps on every search on Basic
  • API access starts on Pro + AI
  • Pro + AI jumps to $119 after month one

Best for: anyone who runs Google Ads, or competes with someone who does.

Pricing: Basic $39 a month, or $29 a month billed yearly.

Verdict: the right cheap tool when paid search is part of the job. For organic research and audits in your AI assistant, see ContextBolt SEO vs SpyFu.

7. Mangools

Friendliest suite

Mangools bundles five small tools. KWFinder for keywords, SERPChecker, SERPWatcher for rankings, LinkMiner for backlinks and SiteProfiler. It is the nicest interface on this list. Basic is $61 a month, or $452.40 a year, which is $37.70 a month. It only fits a $50 budget on yearly billing.

Basic caps you at 100 keyword searches and 100 SERP checks a day, 200 keyword suggestions per search, 200 tracked keywords updated weekly, 100,000 backlink rows a month, 20 site profiles a day, and one login at a time. API and MCP access are included, so Claude or ChatGPT can run Mangools for you, and so is AI Search Watcher with 500 prompts.

Pros
  • Clean, friendly keyword research
  • MCP and API included on Basic
  • AI search monitoring in the bundle
Cons
  • $61 month to month
  • Weekly rank updates on Basic
  • One login at a time, no extra seats

Best for: bloggers who want to browse keyword tables in a tool that is pleasant to use.

Pricing: Basic $61 a month, or $452.40 a year.

Verdict: a good cheap suite if you pay yearly. See ContextBolt SEO vs Mangools for the agent side.

8. Serpstat

Most suite for the money

Serpstat covers keyword research, site analysis, rank tracking, site audits and backlinks in one web app. The page shows $50 a month, which is the yearly rate. Month to month, Individual is $69.

Individual gives you 5 projects, 100 searches a day, 10,000 keyword position checks a month, 30,000 pages to audit and 50,000 export rows. Team, at $129 a month or $100 billed yearly, adds three users, the API, MCP for ChatGPT and Claude, and 1,500 AI visibility checks a month. Both have a 7-day free trial, and the card check is a $1 charge that comes back.

Pros
  • Five projects on the entry plan
  • A full suite under the big-name prices
  • 7-day free trial
Cons
  • $69 month to month
  • No API, MCP or AI visibility on Individual
  • Agent access starts at $129

Best for: freelancers who look after a handful of sites and want one suite for all of them.

Pricing: Individual $69 a month, or $50 a month billed yearly.

Verdict: the most suite per dollar on yearly billing. See ContextBolt SEO vs Serpstat for agent access under $129.

9. DataForSEO

Best for builders

DataForSEO sells raw SEO data by the call. No subscription, a $50 minimum top-up, and a balance that never expires. Its keyword and competitor data costs $0.012 a task plus $0.00012 per item, and search results pages start at $0.0006 each. It has its own MCP server, so an AI assistant can call the whole API.

ContextBolt SEO runs on DataForSEO’s data. The difference is assembly. DataForSEO hands you the pipe, and you pick endpoints, read raw JSON and watch the balance. The DataForSEO MCP pricing guide shows what that costs in practice.

Pros
  • Pay only for what you call
  • Balance never expires
  • The whole API behind one MCP server
Cons
  • You cannot know the monthly bill in advance
  • Raw data, so you do the reading
  • $50 minimum to fund an account

Best for: developers building their own SEO scripts, reports or apps.

Pricing: pay as you go, $50 minimum top-up.

Verdict: the cheapest route if you build things and like wiring. If you want the answer rather than the payload, see ContextBolt SEO vs DataForSEO MCP.

Cheap SEO tools we left out, and why

Some tools show up on every “affordable SEO tools” list. Here is why these did not make ours.

SE Ranking: a good suite, but its cheapest plan, Core, is well past this budget. Its pricing page served us pounds, £95 a month or £76 billed yearly, with no US price to read. It has a 14-day free trial with no card. See ContextBolt SEO vs SE Ranking.

Moz Pro Starter: $49 a month for one website, but Moz’s pricing page does not list what Starter includes, and we will not guess. Standard is $99, or $79 billed yearly, with 150 keyword queries a month. The best Moz alternatives guide covers that price band.

Ahrefs Lite and Semrush: both excellent, neither cheap. Ahrefs Lite is $129 a month and Semrush’s entry SEO plan is $139. The Semrush pricing breakdown, the best Ahrefs alternatives and the best Semrush alternatives cover what that money buys.

Group-buy tools: shared logins to someone else’s paid account. Cheap until the access stops.

The cheapest setup that works, by budget

You do not need the most tools. You need the right two. Here is what we would run at each budget.

$0 a month: Google Search Console plus Ahrefs Free. Your real numbers, your own backlinks and a proper site audit. The gap is everything outside your site, like competitors and keywords you do not rank for yet.

About $7 a month: add Keywords Everywhere Bronze, $84 a year, for search volume while you research.

$29 to $35 a month: one full research tool. Ubersuggest Individual at $29 if you research one site in a browser tab. ContextBolt SEO at $35 if you work in an AI assistant and research more than one domain, with Search Console connected in the same chat.

Around $50 a month: Mangools or Serpstat on yearly billing, or SpyFu if your competitors buy Google Ads.

Pay as you go: DataForSEO, if you would rather build your own.

Whichever you pick, the first session matters more than the plan. Here is a prompt to try on day one, in ContextBolt SEO or any tool that runs in your AI assistant.

Copy this prompt

Here is my site and three competitors. Find 20
keywords they rank for and I do not, with monthly
volume and difficulty. Then tell me which five my
site could realistically rank for this quarter,
and which page I should write first.

How to choose a cheap SEO tool

Four questions settle most of it.

  • Is that price monthly or yearly? Find the billing toggle before you compare anything. Mangools and Serpstat lead with the yearly rate, and SpyFu’s headline $29 is yearly too.
  • What does the cheap plan cap? Projects, daily searches and credits. One project is fine for one site and a wall for two.
  • Where will you actually use it? A browser tab you open on Mondays, an extension that sits on every search, or the AI assistant you already work in all day.
  • Do you need anyone else’s data? If not, Search Console and Ahrefs Free cost nothing. If you do, that is what the paid tools are for.

If you do your own SEO and already work in Claude, Cursor, Codex or ChatGPT, start with the ContextBolt SEO 7-day free trial and one question you need answered this week. If you never open an AI assistant, Ubersuggest or Mangools will suit you better, and Search Console stays free either way. For how credits, seats and yearly bills compare across the whole category, read the SEO tool pricing guide.
