How to connect Claude to your bookmarks

  1. Step 1 Get Pro in the extension Add ContextBolt to Chrome and sign in with the code we email you. Upgrade to Pro and let your library sync. Settings, MCP Integration then shows the URL to paste.
  2. Step 2 Add the connector in Claude In Claude Desktop or claude.ai, open Customize, then Connectors, then + and Add custom connector. Name it, paste the URL and press Add. In Claude Code it is one command.
  3. Step 3 Sign in and allow On the ContextBolt page, enter the email your extension uses and the code we send. Choose Allow connection. Then ask Claude about something you saved.

What is MCP and why does Claude need it?

Model Context Protocol is an open standard from Anthropic that lets AI apps connect to outside tools and data. Claude can't see your bookmarks unless something hands them over. ContextBolt runs an MCP server for your library, so Claude can search it mid-conversation.

Does it work in Claude Desktop, Claude Code and claude.ai?

Yes, all three, with the same URL: https://api.contextbolt.app/mcp. In Claude Desktop and claude.ai, open Customize, then Connectors, then + and Add custom connector. In Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http contextbolt-bookmarks https://api.contextbolt.app/mcp, then run /mcp and choose Authenticate. The setup guide has every step.

Do I need Pro?

Yes. The Claude connection is part of Pro, $6 a month. Pro also removes the 150-bookmark cap and syncs your library to our server, which is where Claude searches it. The extension itself is free up to 150 bookmarks.

Do I need an API key or any code?

No. You paste one URL into Claude, sign in on our page with your email and a code we send, and choose Allow connection. Nothing secret goes into Claude's settings. Claude Code takes one terminal command, which you can copy from the setup guide.

Can I bookmark a Claude conversation?

Yes, as a web page. Open the conversation on claude.ai in Chrome, click the ContextBolt icon and press Save this page. It saves the link and the text it can read on the page. Select one answer first and it saves just that part as a highlight. This works on the free plan too, within the 150-bookmark cap.

Can Claude change or delete my bookmarks?

No. Claude can search, read, export and save new bookmarks when you ask. There is no tool to edit or delete a save, so your library only grows.

Is my bookmark data safe?

The Claude connector asks you to sign in with an email code and choose Allow connection. Disconnect ContextBolt in Claude to take that access away. Your Pro library syncs to our server so Claude can search it. That copy is not end-to-end encrypted, so treat it as something we can read.

Does it work with ChatGPT, Cursor or Codex?

Cursor and Codex, yes: they take the same URL and the same email-code sign-in. ChatGPT works where your account lets you add a custom MCP connector, which depends on your plan. The setup guide has the exact steps for each.
