Terms of service
Last updated: 30 March 2026
The basics
ContextBolt is a Chrome extension and cloud service provided by David ("we", "us"). By installing the extension or using any ContextBolt service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please uninstall the extension and stop using the service.
What you get
Basic tier (free): Up to 150 bookmarks with AI-generated tags, topic clustering, and semantic search. All data is stored locally in your browser. No credit card required.
Pro tier ($6/month): Unlimited bookmarks, a personal MCP endpoint for connecting your bookmarks to AI tools (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, etc.), and encrypted cloud sync.
Account registration
An anonymous account is automatically created when you install ContextBolt to manage API access and rate limits. No personal information is required for the Basic tier. Upgrading to Pro requires an email address and license key activation via Lemon Squeezy.
Your data
You own your data. We do not sell, share, or use your bookmark content for training AI models. Bookmark text is sent to third-party AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI) solely for processing (tagging, topic assignment, and embedding generation). These providers process data according to their own privacy policies. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
MCP endpoint
Pro users receive a personal MCP endpoint URL with a unique authentication token. You are responsible for keeping your MCP token secure. Do not share your token publicly. If you believe your token has been compromised, you can regenerate it from the extension settings. The MCP endpoint provides read-only access to your synced bookmarks.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use automated tools to scrape or bulk-access the ContextBolt API beyond normal usage
- Attempt to bypass rate limits or authentication mechanisms
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the API or backend services
- Share, resell, or redistribute your Pro account or MCP endpoint to third parties
- Use the service to store or distribute illegal, harmful, or abusive content
- Interfere with the operation of the service or its infrastructure
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice.
Payments and cancellation
Pro subscriptions are billed monthly through Lemon Squeezy. You can cancel at any time from your Lemon Squeezy customer portal. When you cancel, you retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period. After that, your account reverts to the Basic tier. No refunds are provided for partial months.
Downgrading from Pro
If you cancel Pro or your subscription lapses, your MCP endpoint will stop working and cloud sync will be disabled. Your local bookmark data in the browser remains unaffected. Server-side synced data is retained for 30 days to allow re-subscription, then permanently deleted. If you have more than 150 bookmarks, you will not lose existing bookmarks but will be unable to add new ones until you are below the Basic tier limit.
Intellectual property
ContextBolt, including its code, design, branding, and documentation, is the intellectual property of the operator. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the extension and service for personal or professional productivity purposes. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute the extension or any part of the service without written permission.
Third-party platforms
ContextBolt interacts with third-party platforms (X/Twitter, Reddit, LinkedIn) to capture your bookmarks and saved posts. We are not affiliated with these platforms. Your use of those platforms is governed by their respective terms of service. We are not responsible for changes to third-party APIs or platform policies that may affect ContextBolt's functionality.
Service availability
We aim to keep ContextBolt available and reliable, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
Limitation of liability
ContextBolt is a productivity tool. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for lost bookmarks, missed content, data loss, or any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Governing law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of ContextBolt shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email (if you have a registered account) or through a notice in the extension. Continued use of ContextBolt after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
