Claude long-term memory · MCP

Give Claude memory
of what you save.

Claude's built-in memory is made from your chats. ContextBolt adds what you saved. Ask in any chat and Claude finds the tweet, Reddit thread or web page, with its source and when you saved it.

An illustration with an example library. A card compares Claude's memory, built from your chats (topics such as your job, how you like answers and that you started lifting again), with your ContextBolt library of 1,402 saves from X, Reddit, LinkedIn and the web. Below it, Claude in a new chat is asked "What was that beginner lifting plan I saved in the spring?" It searches the ContextBolt library and answers from three saves: a tweet saved 6 months ago, a Reddit thread saved 5 months ago and a web page saved 7 months ago, each shown with its source.

What Claude's memory leaves out

  • Claude's memory is built from your chats It keeps topics like your work, your projects and how you like answers. You can read and edit them in Settings, under Memory.
  • What you saved never came up The thread you bookmarked in March, the article you saved last week. Claude's memory has no record of them unless you paste them in.
  • Connect ContextBolt and Claude can search them Your saves from X, Reddit, LinkedIn and the web, searchable from any chat. They sit beside Claude's memory and leave it as it is.

What Claude can recall

Anything in your ContextBolt library, from any chat. Ask the way you would ask a friend who read it too.

  • By topicWhat did I save about strength training? Claude searches by meaning, across X, Reddit, LinkedIn and web pages at once.
  • By timeWhat did I save this week? Claude pulls your recent saves, newest first, each with when you saved it.
  • By sourceFind that article I saved on pricing. Claude can narrow the search to web pages, or to one platform.
  • Save itRemember this link for later. Claude can add it to your library, so any later chat can find it.

A saved web page reaches Claude as its first 2,000 characters, and Claude is told it is only the opening. So it cites the page and offers the link, instead of guessing at the rest.

As an X/Twitter user, I’ve bookmarked close to 2,000 tweets, posts, videos and articles over the years. The problem is there isn’t an easy or straightforward way for me to extract, summarise, or synthesise the content I find insightful… ContextBolt solves this challenge for me.

Does Claude already have long-term memory?

Yes. Claude builds a memory from your chats. It keeps topics like your work, your projects and how you like answers, and you can read or edit them under Settings, then Memory. Since March 2, 2026 it is on the free plan too, and it is on by default for Free, Pro and Max. It does not include what you saved elsewhere, so a thread you bookmarked last month is still invisible to it.

What is the difference between Claude's memory and ContextBolt?

Claude's memory is about you. It remembers what came up in your chats. ContextBolt is about what you saved. It lets Claude search the tweets, Reddit threads, LinkedIn posts and web pages in your library. The two work side by side, and Claude can use both in the same chat.

What can Claude find in my library?

Anything you saved with ContextBolt. That means X bookmarks, Reddit saves, LinkedIn posts and web pages. Each result comes back with its author, link, tags and when you saved it. A saved web page reaches Claude as its first 2,000 characters, and Claude is told it is only the opening.

Can Claude remember a link for me?

Yes. Ask Claude to save a link and it adds it to your ContextBolt library with the save_bookmark tool. In any later chat, Claude can find it again.

Do I need to be a developer to set this up?

No. In Claude Desktop or claude.ai, open Customize, then Connectors, then + and Add custom connector. Paste https://api.contextbolt.app/mcp, sign in with the code we email you and choose Allow connection. In Claude Code it is one terminal command. The setup guide has every step.

Is this free?

The extension is free up to 150 bookmarks, with no credit card. Connecting Claude is on Pro, $6 a month. Pro also removes the 150 cap and syncs your library to our server, which is where Claude searches it.

How is this different from RAG or a vector database?

It is the same idea, already built. Your saves are turned into embeddings, search runs on a managed vector index, and the result is an MCP server Claude connects to. You skip the build and paste one URL.

Can Claude change or delete my bookmarks?

No. Claude can search, read, export and save new bookmarks when you ask. There is no tool to edit or delete a save, so your library only grows. Disconnect ContextBolt in Claude whenever you like.

Is my library private?

The Claude connector asks you to sign in with an email code and choose Allow connection. Your Pro library syncs to our server so Claude can search it. That copy is not end-to-end encrypted, so treat it as something we can read.
