Why Reddit saves are hard to find

  • Reddit lists your latest 1,000 saves Save one more and the oldest slides off the end of your saved page.
  • No search box for your saves Finding last year's saved comment means scrolling until you happen to spot it.
  • Saves ContextBolt keeps past 1,000 It copies each save while Reddit still lists it, so your library keeps growing after Reddit's list stops. Past 150 saves, that takes Pro.

How to save and search Reddit posts

  1. Step 1 Add ContextBolt to Chrome One click from the Chrome Web Store. No account, no API key and no Reddit app to register.
  2. Step 2 Open Reddit while signed in ContextBolt reads your saved list, posts and comments, through your own session. After that, each visit to Reddit adds what you saved since.
  3. Step 3 Search posts and comments together Type a few words. Matches come back ranked as you type, typos and all. Each save carries a topic, so saves about one thing sit together.

What ContextBolt keeps from Reddit

Reddit saves come in two kinds, and ContextBolt keeps both. Each one is copied into your library with its words, so you can still read it after the post is gone.

  • PostIts title and its text, with the subreddit, the author and the link.
  • CommentIts text and the title of the post it replied to, so a search for the thread finds the comment too.
  • BothA topic and tags, added on their own, so saves about one thing sit together whichever subreddit they came from.

Why save Reddit posts to ContextBolt

Your library outlasts Reddit's listContextBolt copies each save while Reddit still lists it. When the save drops off Reddit's 1,000, or the post is deleted, your copy stays.
Comments get the same search as postsThe save that mattered is often a comment nine replies deep. It is searched like any post, with its thread's title attached.
Reddit, X, LinkedIn and the web togetherYour Reddit saves sit in the same library as your X and LinkedIn saves, so one search finds a thread whichever site it came from. Saved web pages sit one tab over.

As an X/Twitter user, I’ve bookmarked close to 2,000 tweets, posts, videos and articles over the years. The problem is there isn’t an easy or straightforward way for me to extract, summarise, or synthesise the content I find insightful… ContextBolt solves this challenge for me.

Does it save Reddit comments as well as posts?

Yes. ContextBolt captures both from your saved list. A saved comment keeps its text and the title of the post it replied to, so a search for the thread finds the comment too.

Can it get saves already past Reddit's 1,000 limit?

Not from your saved page. Reddit stops listing them there, so ContextBolt cannot see them either. It captures what Reddit still lists, up to 1,000, then each new save after that: up to 150 in all on free, every one on Pro. Reddit's own data request can reach older saves, as bare links. Our guide to exporting Reddit saved posts walks through it.

How does it pick up new saves?

Save on Reddit the way you already do. The next time you open a Reddit page, ContextBolt checks your saved list and adds anything new. It checks at most once every five minutes and stops when it reaches saves it already has. To run a full pass, press Sync Reddit in the extension popup.

Does it work on old.reddit.com?

It runs on www.reddit.com, not old.reddit.com. If you browse old Reddit, press Sync Reddit in the extension popup now and then. It opens www.reddit.com and pulls in your new saves.

What happens if a post I saved gets deleted?

If ContextBolt captured it first, your copy keeps the text. A sync never removes anything from your library, so a save stays when it leaves Reddit or drops off your saved list.

Is it free?

Capturing and searching are free up to 150 bookmarks, with no account and no credit card. Pro is $6 a month and removes the cap, so a Reddit library past 150 saves needs Pro.

Will Reddit ban me for using it?

ContextBolt reads only your own saved list, through your own browser session. It never posts, votes or comments. After the first sync, a normal visit usually reads just the newest page of your saves.

What about Reddit's own data export?

Reddit's data request can take up to 30 days. Its saved_posts.csv holds a post ID and a link on each row, with no title and no text. It does reach saves past 1,000, so it is worth filing for your oldest ones.

Can I export my Reddit saves to a file?

Yes, on Pro. Pick CSV, JSON or Excel and set the source to Reddit. Exporting Reddit saved posts shows what the file holds.
