Pocket migration · Chrome Extension

Pocket is gone.
Here is where your bookmarks live now.

ContextBolt picks up the half Pocket never handled: tweets, Reddit threads, and LinkedIn posts, all searchable by meaning. Free up to 150 saves.

Free Chrome extension. No account, no credit card.

Why this is harder than it should be

Mozilla shut Pocket down on 8 July 2025. The export window closed on 8 October 2025. Most migration guides send everyone to Raindrop or Instapaper without asking what they actually used Pocket for. If half of what you saved was tweets, Reddit threads, and LinkedIn posts, those tools do not help. ContextBolt does.

Three steps. All automatic.

1

Install ContextBolt for the social half (one click)

Free Chrome extension. Open X, Reddit, or LinkedIn once after install. ContextBolt backfills your saves automatically with no CSV import or manual transfer needed. For long-form articles, pair it with Raindrop or Instapaper, both of which have dedicated Pocket import tools.

2

Search by meaning, not exact words

Type 'that thread about pricing' and the right post surfaces, even if you do not remember the original wording. AI tags every save automatically. The same query works across X, Reddit, and LinkedIn in one library.

3

Or plug it into Claude, Cursor, Windsurf

Pro users get an MCP endpoint. Your bookmarks become live context inside any MCP-capable AI. Ask Claude 'what did I save about React performance?' and get useful results in the same conversation.

Searchable from inside your AI agent

Pro users get a personal MCP endpoint. One line of config and Claude, Cursor, or Windsurf can search your bookmarks during a conversation.

Built for retrieval, not just storage

The social half Pocket never handled

Tweets, Reddit threads, and LinkedIn posts in one searchable library. Pocket could save URLs but stripped social context. ContextBolt keeps the thread, the author, and the meaning.

Find by meaning, not by memory

Semantic search means you describe what you are looking for in your own words. The right bookmark surfaces even if the wording is completely different from what you saved.

Free up to 150 saves

No card required. Generous free tier so you can try the workflow before committing. Pro is $6/month for unlimited saves and the MCP endpoint.

Common questions

Is ContextBolt a one-to-one Pocket replacement?

No, and I will not pretend otherwise. Pocket was a read-later app: save an article, read it later with a clean reader view and offline access. ContextBolt is a search and recall tool, not a reader. It optimizes for finding the right bookmark fast across X, Reddit, and LinkedIn. If long-form article reading was the point of Pocket for you, pair ContextBolt with Raindrop or Instapaper. See the full Pocket alternatives guide for the honest breakdown.

Can I import my Pocket CSV into ContextBolt?

Not directly. Pocket exports a list of URLs and titles, but ContextBolt captures full post content from X, Reddit, and LinkedIn natively rather than from a URL list. The transition is forward-looking: install ContextBolt and your new saves get AI-indexed automatically. For old Pocket articles, Raindrop and Instapaper both have dedicated Pocket import tools.

Does ContextBolt save web articles like Pocket did?

Web articles are not the primary focus. ContextBolt is built for the social-bookmark half (X, Reddit, LinkedIn) that Pocket never handled well. If you primarily save articles to read later, Raindrop or Instapaper is the better fit. Most former Pocket users end up using two tools rather than one.

What happens to my data if ContextBolt itself shuts down?

Local-first storage. Bookmarks live in your browser's local database (IndexedDB) so even if the cloud service stopped, your local library is intact. Pro users get cloud sync, but the local copy is always the source of truth. Export tools let you move your library elsewhere any time.

Is ContextBolt free?

Free up to 150 bookmarks across all platforms, no time limit, no card required. Pro is $6/month for unlimited bookmarks, cloud sync, and the MCP endpoint for Claude, Cursor, and Windsurf.
