How to Delete All Bookmarks on Twitter (X) in 2026

You have been bookmarking posts on X since 2019. Threads you meant to read, job posts, a recipe, a hot take you wanted to answer. The list is now 2,300 posts long, and you want it gone, all of it, in one go.

X used to make that easy. The top post on Reddit for this exact question is titled “Twitter removed ‘Remove All Bookmarks’ option”, and plenty of people have hunted through the menus and come up empty. X’s own help page still says the option exists on every platform. Both are partly right, because it depends which app and which version you are holding.

This guide shows where the clear-all option sits on each device, what to do when it is not there, how to judge a bulk delete tool before you hand it your account, and the one step to take first. Clearing is permanent, and X keeps no backup of your bookmarks.

Quick answer
  • Look for the more icon at the top of your Bookmarks list. On the web that is x.com/i/bookmarks. Tap the three dots, choose Clear all Bookmarks, and confirm.
  • On iPhone, Bookmarks now lives inside History. Tap your profile picture, then History, then the Bookmarks tab, and look for the clear option there.
  • Clearing cannot be undone, so copy first. X has no undo and its data archive holds no bookmarks. ContextBolt, the Chrome extension we build, imports the bookmarks X shows you into a library on your computer, with each post’s text. Clearing X afterwards does not touch that copy.
  • No option anywhere means one at a time or a bulk tool. X’s API removes one bookmark per call, at most 50 every 15 minutes, so 1,000 bookmarks take about five hours.
  • Check the permissions before you connect any tool, and revoke its access when it is done.

Where you are seeing this

X Bookmarks is the private list of posts you saved with the bookmark icon. Only you can see it. Where it opens depends on your device, and X has moved it more than once.

  • Web (desktop browser): Click Bookmarks in the left menu, or go straight to x.com/i/bookmarks.
  • Android app: Tap your profile picture, then Bookmarks.
  • iPhone app: Tap your profile picture, then History, then the Bookmarks tab. X renamed the iOS section to History in May 2026, and our guide to the X History tab covers what moved.
  • Premium accounts: If you pay for X Premium, you may also have bookmark folders. They matter later in this guide.

If your list looks empty before you have deleted anything, stop here. That is usually the wrong account, not a lost list, and why X bookmarks vanish walks through the checks.

Before you clear anything, keep a copy

Most people who clear their bookmarks want a fresh start, not to lose everything they saved. Those are different things, and X only offers the second.

Here is what you are up against. X’s help page on Bookmarks describes no undo. Its official data download, the archive under Settings, does not include bookmarks at all. So once you confirm, the list is gone, and nothing on X can rebuild it. A bookmark was only ever a pointer to someone else’s post, so the posts stay up. What goes is your trail back to them.

That is why ContextBolt is the step I would take first. It is a Chrome extension we build. Open your bookmarks page in Chrome with it installed, and it scrolls the list and copies each post’s text and author into a library on your computer. If you have used ContextBolt before, click Sync X in its popup instead, which forces a full pass over the list rather than a check for new saves. Then clear X with nothing to lose. Removing a bookmark on X never deletes the ContextBolt copy. That library is only edited from ContextBolt’s own dashboard.

Two honest limits. First, a page-reading import only sees what X’s bookmarks page shows, and developers report that page stops at roughly your newest 800 to 1,000 saves. The bookmark limit guide explains what happens to the older ones. Second, Basic is free up to 150 bookmarks. Pro is $6 a month and removes the cap, which is what a list of 2,300 needs.

If you would rather have a plain file, our export guide tests the free CSV exporters. A file of 2,300 rows is a backup, though, not something you will ever read.

How to clear all bookmarks at once

X documents one control for this, and it lives in the same spot on every platform. The help page says you can “tap the more icon at the top of your Bookmarks timeline to remove all of your Bookmarks at once.” That is the three-dot icon next to the Bookmarks heading.

On the web:

  1. Go to x.com/i/bookmarks and sign in to the account that owns the list.
  2. Click the three-dot icon at the top, next to the Bookmarks heading.
  3. Choose Clear all Bookmarks.
  4. Confirm.

On Android:

  1. Tap your profile picture, then Bookmarks.
  2. Tap the three-dot icon at the top right.
  3. Choose Clear all Bookmarks, then confirm.

On iPhone:

  1. Tap your profile picture, then History.
  2. Open the Bookmarks tab.
  3. Look for the clear option at the top of the tab. Some guides written since the rename say a long press on the Bookmarks tab brings it up.
  4. Choose Clear all Bookmarks, then confirm.

There is no review step. One tap wipes the list, and X offers no way back.

When Clear all Bookmarks is missing

This is where the Reddit thread comes from. The option has moved with every redesign, and on some app versions it is not there at all. Guides published this year disagree about which platform still shows it, which tells you it differs by account and version. Do not trust any one guide, including this one. Check.

Work through these in order.

  1. Update the app: An old build can be missing menu items a newer one has.
  2. Try the web: Open x.com/i/bookmarks in a desktop browser and look at the three-dot icon there.
  3. Try the other app: If you have an Android device or an iPhone to hand, the option may sit on one and not the other.
  4. On iPhone, check History: If you are still looking under a Bookmarks menu item, the list has moved.
  5. Check the account: Bookmarks belong to an account, not a device. If you run a personal and a work account, the clear only empties whichever one you are signed in to, so switch and repeat for the other.

If none of them shows it, you have two routes left.

Remove them one at a time: On the web or Android, open a post from the Bookmarks list, tap the share icon, and choose Remove post from Bookmarks. On iPhone, tap the bookmark icon on the post. That is fine for 30 bookmarks. For 2,300 it is a lost weekend.

Use a bulk delete tool: There are browser extensions and web apps built for this one job. Read the next section before you pick one.

Is a bulk delete tool safe?

They come in two kinds, and they ask for very different things.

Browser extensions work inside your logged-in X tab. They scroll the Bookmarks page and press remove on each post, the way you would. You never hand over your password, but the extension can read and act on x.com while it runs, so check who publishes it, how many people use it, and when it was last updated. Remove it when you are done.

Web apps ask you to connect your X account, and that is where to slow down. X’s page on third-party apps lists what each permission allows. An app on the older Read and Write permission can post for you, delete your posts, and follow and unfollow accounts. That is a lot of reach for a tool that only needs to remove bookmarks. Newer apps can ask for narrower access, and the consent screen lists everything under “Things this App can do”. Read that list. If it is longer than the job, cancel.

Two rules hold for every tool.

  • Never type your X password into anything except x.com. X warns that anyone holding your password can take complete control of the account and lock you out.
  • Revoke access afterwards: Go to Settings and privacy, then the Apps and sessions section, and click Revoke access next to the tool.

And set your expectations on speed. X’s API rate limits allow 50 bookmark removals per user every 15 minutes. That is 200 an hour, so an honest tool working through 1,000 bookmarks takes about five hours, and 2,300 takes most of a day. A tool promising your whole list in seconds is either driving your browser directly or overselling.

After you clear: check folders and reload

When the job looks done, make sure it is.

  • Reload the page: Refresh, or close and reopen the app, so you are looking at the list as X now holds it rather than the copy already on screen.
  • Open every bookmark folder: If you use Premium folders, open each one. Reports say folder contents have not always cleared with the main list, and this has changed between app versions.
  • Check the other device: Bookmarks belong to the account, so a clear on one device should show everywhere. If your phone still shows posts after a clear on the web, refresh the app or update it, then look again.

Nobody is told. X says bookmarks are private to you, so clearing them sends no notification and leaves no public trace beyond each post’s bookmark count dropping by one.

You might not need to delete them at all

Here is the take, and it may not be what you want to hear. Most people who clear their bookmarks do not have too many bookmarks. They have no way to find the one they want.

Look at why people say they wipe the list. It is unusable. Search inside it is a single keyword box that only covers what X still shows, and searching X bookmarks goes through how little it does. So the list gets longer, nothing comes back out of it, and clearing it feels like the only fix. It is X’s fix for X’s search problem, and it costs you every useful thing you ever saved.

If that is your reason, a better list fixes it without the loss. ContextBolt copies your X bookmarks, tags each one by topic with AI, and searches the text and the tags together, instantly. A search for “hiring” finds the thread tagged hiring even when it only said “we need a designer”. And the posts you saved last week sit next to the ones from 2019, found the same way. You can still clear X afterwards. You just stop needing to, because a long list stops being a problem once you can search it.

What to do next

If you have decided to clear, the order that loses nothing is short.

  1. Install ContextBolt in Chrome and open x.com/i/bookmarks. Keep the tab open while it copies the list.
  2. Clear X with the three-dot icon, or one of the routes above if the option is missing.
  3. Reload, check your folders, and revoke any tool you connected.

From then on, every post you bookmark on X in Chrome is copied the moment you tap the icon, so the next clear-out costs you nothing either. Your Reddit and LinkedIn saves land in the same library, along with any web page you save in one click. Basic is free up to 150 bookmarks, and Pro removes the cap for $6 a month.

Delete All X Bookmarks: FAQs

Can you delete all your Twitter bookmarks at once?
Often, yes. X's help page says a more icon at the top of your Bookmarks timeline removes all of them at once, on iPhone, Android and the web. In practice the option comes and goes between app versions, so check each place. If none shows it, you are down to one at a time or a bulk tool.
Can you recover X bookmarks after clearing them?
No. Clear all Bookmarks has no undo and no trash folder, and X's data archive does not include bookmarks at all, so there is no backup to restore from. If you might want any of them later, copy them somewhere you control before you tap clear. A copy made afterwards has nothing left to copy.
Why is Clear all Bookmarks missing on X?
X moves the option around between redesigns, and some app versions and layouts do not show it. Update the app, then check the more icon at the top of the Bookmarks timeline on the web, on Android and on iPhone. On iPhone, where Bookmarks now sits inside the History tab, look there too.
Does removing a bookmark notify the author?
No. X says bookmarks are private and only viewable to you, so neither saving nor removing one tells anybody. The post's public bookmark count drops by one, with no name attached. Clearing your whole list is just as silent. Nobody sees who removed what, and no notification goes out.
