How it works

What SEO for agents actually is.

  1. 01 You ask, or a cron fires“Shortlist keywords for this topic.” Typed at midnight or scheduled for every Monday.
  2. 02 The agent calls a toolAn SEO MCP server is the data source. Hermes, Grok Bot and OpenClaw can all reach it.
  3. 03 Live data comes backReal volume, difficulty and SERPs, in the chat you already use. No tab switch, no dashboard to work in.
What it does

Five jobs, and the agent
picks the right one.

Keyword research

Give it a topic and get back a ranked shortlist, with search volume, difficulty and intent on every term. You find out which ones are worth a day of writing before you spend the day.

Always-on, for real

The SEO that happens
while you sleep.

On a schedule, nobody at the desk
Monday 9am: Search Console pulled, ranking drops flagged in Telegram.
Overnight: keyword shortlists researched and drafted for the week.
Daily: the SERPs you care about re-checked, movers reported.
Weekly: a competitor sweep, new keywords they rank for that you do not.
Every lookup lands on your SEO Board on its own, dated.
On demand, when you drop into chat
“Is this keyword winnable before I spend a day writing it?”
“Who took position three overnight, and with what page?”
“Audit the new landing page before it goes out.”
“Who links to my rivals but not me? Rank the prospects.”
“What changed since last week?” The memory answers first.

How much you automate is a dial, not a doctrine. Schedule everything up to the draft, or let the agent file pages into a review queue. The data layer works the same either way.

The options

What people mean by
SEO for agents.

Google's top ten for this phrase mixes three different jobs. Here is the split, plus how to set it up for Grok Bot, Hermes and OpenClaw.

Best for in-agent SEO
ContextBolt SEO in your agent Data layer, you stay in charge

One hosted MCP URL. Hermes, Grok Bot, OpenClaw, Claude Code and n8n all pull live keyword, SERP, backlink and Search Console data into every job they run.

ContextBolt SEO

The SEO data layer
your agent is missing.

Hermes, Grok Bot and OpenClaw can already work overnight. They still guess at keywords unless you plug in live data. One hosted URL. Keyword volume, difficulty, live SERPs, backlinks, Search Console. Ahrefs reports. ContextBolt does, inside the agent you already run, on whatever schedule you give it.

  • Keywords, SERPs, backlinks and AI visibility, all from one chat
  • Your own Google Search Console, connected in 20 seconds, zero credits
  • Your own SEO Board, a shareable page your research fills in as you go, free
  • Cross-session memory, so research compounds instead of vanishing

The honest limits

Where this stops
being the answer.

Publishing is a dial

Decide how much it ships on its own

Automate everything up to the draft, or let routines file pages into a review queue. Search feedback takes months, so a routine quietly shipping thin pages shows up in the numbers a quarter late.

Estimates

The numbers are not Google's

Volume and difficulty come from a search-data provider, the same class of estimate behind most SEO products. Pair it with Search Console when you need your own real clicks.

Metered

A heartbeat can empty the month

Each research call costs a lookup. A daily 50-keyword cron is 1,500 a month, which is more than the plan. Size the schedule, and lean on free Search Console tools for your own site.

Public URL

Cloud agents cannot see localhost

Grok Bot and a remote OpenClaw gateway do not run on your laptop, so a local MCP that works in Claude Code will fail there. ContextBolt SEO is already a public HTTPS endpoint.

FAQ

SEO for agents,
common questions.

What does SEO for agents mean?
It means giving an always-on agent live SEO data so it can research, draft and report without guessing. Hermes, Grok Bot and OpenClaw are the runtimes. An SEO MCP server is the data layer. Schedule the research, the rank watches and the drafts; how much publishing you hand over is your call. It is a different job from agentic SEO, which is about being cited by AI.
Which agents work with ContextBolt SEO?
Any client that speaks MCP. For this cluster that is Hermes Agent, Grok Bot and OpenClaw, plus Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, n8n and the rest of the integrations list. Same URL in each. Cloud agents need a public HTTPS endpoint, which this already is.
How do I connect Hermes, Grok Bot or OpenClaw?
Hermes gets a url block in ~/.hermes/config.yaml. OpenClaw gets openclaw mcp add with transport streamable-http. Grok Bot has no settings form. You tell it in chat to add the MCP URL. Each path is on its integration page, and each one uses the same hosted URL from ContextBolt SEO.
Is this the same as agentic SEO?
No. Agentic SEO on today's SERP usually means optimizing so ChatGPT and Gemini cite you. This page is the other job. Your agent does the SEO work itself, with live keyword and SERP data behind every draft and report. AI visibility is a separate tool in the same product.
How much should the agent do on its own?
As much as you are comfortable reviewing later. Lookups, shortlists, drafts and reports are safe to run fully scheduled, because they touch nothing live. The one thing to size deliberately is unattended publishing, because search feedback takes months and a routine that ships weak pages shows it a quarter late. The SEO automation guide covers how subscribers set the dial.
Do I still need Search Console?
Yes, for your own real clicks, impressions and positions. Connect it once, read-only, and those tools never spend a lookup. Keyword volume and competitor SERPs still come from the paid estimates. The two together are the stack. Search Console alone cannot tell you whether a new term is winnable.
Where does the data come from?
Real SEO MCP servers sit on top of an established search-data provider like DataForSEO, the same class of keyword, SERP and ranking estimates that quietly powers most SEO products. Nobody outside Google has Google's exact figures. The data is not new. The way you reach it, by asking your agent, is.
