The AI Visibility tab

How to run an AI visibility report, read the AI Visibility tab on your SEO Board, flick between businesses, and track what moves month to month.

Last updated September 2026

Your SEO Board has a second tab, AI Visibility. It shows whether AI answers name your brand, who they name instead, which of your pages they cite, and what to do about it. One report fills it, and every report you run after that adds a point to the line.

Run your first report

Ask your agent, in Claude, Cursor, Codex or wherever you run ContextBolt SEO:

“Run my AI visibility report for mysite.com on the topic CRM software, against hubspot.com, pipedrive.com and salesforce.com.”

Three things go in.

  • Your domain: the brand the report is about. Give the domain rather than the name, so the report can find the pages AI cites.
  • A topic: the market the report measures you against, phrased the way a person would type it. “CRM software” works. “CRM software for growing SaaS teams” does not. The topic scopes the market line, share of voice and the live questions.
  • Competitors, up to four: optional, and worth it. Without them there is no share of voice, no rank, and no “who gets named instead”.

It takes under a minute, because three AI engines are asked live while the report runs. When it finishes, your agent hands you your board link and the tab is filled.

What it costs: 50 credits, plus 8 for each competitor you name. A report with three competitors is 74. Your agent says the total before it runs. The tab itself is free to open, share and re-read, and it never spends a credit on its own.

Reading the tab, top to bottom

The verdict: One sentence at the top says where you stand, for example “Named in 687 AI answers over 12 months, 1.6% share of voice on ‘crm software’.” Under it, who leads, how last month compared with the one before, and how many of your pages AI cites. If you have run this report before, a line says what moved since.

Four tiles: They work the way Search Console’s do. Click one of the first three and the chart below switches to it. The fourth is a count.

  • Answers naming you: how many AI answers named your brand in the last 12 months, and the change between the last two complete months. Hover for the split between Google AI and ChatGPT.
  • All answers on topic: how many AI answers there were about your topic at all. This is the market. If nobody names you yet, the tab opens on this chart, because it shows what AI is answering instead of you.
  • Share of voice: your answers as a share of yours and your competitors’ together, over the same 12 months, with your rank. Add competitors to see it.
  • Pages AI cites: how many times AI answers cite pages on your site, and how many pages.

The chart: Twelve months, one bar per month, Google AI and ChatGPT stacked. Switch to the market line or the competitor lines with the tiles above it. The current month carries a star and is drawn faded, because it is not finished yet.

Your reports: Every run of this report, oldest to newest. Click one to load it. After two runs this strip is the history most AI visibility tools make you wait a quarter for.

Who AI names: Each brand’s answers over the same 12 months, with its share. You are highlighted.

Engines: Two groups, because they are two different measures. Google AI and ChatGPT are counted across every answer in the index. Perplexity, Claude and Gemini are asked one question live, “best” plus your topic, at the moment the report runs, and the panel says whether each one named you, cited you, or neither.

Pages AI cites: Your pages, and the other sites cited alongside them. This is the one panel that is not a 12-month figure. The count covers the whole index, and the panel says so.

The questions: The questions in the index where your brand appears, with how often people ask each one in AI, a dot for whether the answer names you, cites you, or neither, and the live check underneath. Click any row to read the full answer with your brand highlighted, the sources it cited, and a button to ask that engine again.

What to do: A ranked list built from the gaps in your report. Each row is a prompt for your agent. Click “Hand to your agent” and the prompt is copied and shown on the page, so you can paste it into Claude, Cursor or Codex. Lookups that cost something say so in the prompt before anything runs.

More than one business

Each report is its own entry on the tab. A business is a brand, a topic, a country and a language together, so mysite.com on “crm software” and mysite.com on “sales pipeline” are two entries. When you have more than one, a picker appears at the top of the tab. Running a report for a client never replaces your own.

To add one, click “Another business” on the tab, or ask your agent directly:

“Run an AI visibility report for clientsite.com on the topic project management, against asana.com and monday.com.”

Tracking over time

Run the same report again and three things happen. A run is added to “Your reports”. A line at the top says what moved, like “answers naming you 640 to 687”. And the live question is asked again on all three engines, so a history builds on those too.

Once a month is the cadence that shows movement without spending credits on noise. Nothing runs on its own. Every report is your call, made in your agent.

What the numbers mean

  • Counted versus asked live: Google AI and ChatGPT figures come from an index of AI answers, so they are counts. Perplexity, Claude and Gemini are one live question each, so they are a snapshot of that moment, and AI does not answer the same question the same way every time.
  • One window: the tiles, the chart, share of voice and rank all cover the same 12 months, so no number on the tab argues with another. The one exception is citations, which cover the whole index and are labeled that way.
  • A brand that is also a word: if your brand is a word, like Nutshell, Monday or Notion, some indexed questions use it in another sense. The tab groups those under “possibly unrelated” so you can read them apart from the real ones. The counted totals come from the index and can still include them, which is one more reason to read the questions and not only the tiles.
  • Reports from before September 2026: they carry a note at the top. Their share of voice came from a different period than the chart. Run the report again and every figure shares one window.

If something looks wrong

  • “Your AI Visibility tab is waiting on its first report.” No report has run on this account yet. Ask your agent for one.
  • The Share of voice tile says “Add competitors to see who wins.” The last report ran without competitors. Run it again naming up to four.
  • The report failed. Your agent tells you, and nothing is charged. Try again in a minute.
  • The report came back empty. There were no AI answers on that topic at all, in that country. Nothing is charged. Try a broader topic, the phrase people would actually type.
  • I clicked a prompt and nothing opened. The prompt is on your clipboard and shown on the page. Paste it into whichever agent you use.
