Similarweb is a market intelligence product. It estimates how much traffic a site gets, where that traffic comes from, who the audience is, and how a market splits between players. That is genuinely useful, and it is a slide-deck tool.
ContextBolt answers a different question, one that comes up far more often. What do I do with this page. It is $35 a month, inside the agent you already write in.
Estimates are fine for sizing, poor for deciding
Every third-party traffic number is modeled. That is not a criticism of Similarweb specifically, it is what the whole category is. The models are decent and the direction is usually right.
The trouble starts when you try to act on one. “Their traffic is up 18%” does not tell you which page to write. It does not tell you what your own page currently ranks for, what the results above it cover, or whether the AI answer above those results has already taken the click.
ContextBolt is built around exactly those questions, and one of its inputs is not an estimate at all. Connect Search Console and you get real Google data for your own site, with daily snapshots.
What the working session looks like
Inside Claude, Cursor or Codex, you ask what your pricing page shows up for. You ask what the top three results answer that it does not. You run an audit. You check what ChatGPT says when someone asks the buying question, and which sources it cites.
Then you ask the same conversation to draft the change. No export, no second tool, and every lookup saved to your SEO Board so the evidence survives the week.
The price gap is not the point, but it is large
Similarweb Competitive Intelligence is $199 a month, or $1,500 a year. The package that adds SEO and AEO is $399 a month, or $3,996 a year.
ContextBolt is $35 a month, and AI visibility research is in that, with historical coverage on Google AI and ChatGPT, and live per-question checks in ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity.
So if AEO is why you were looking at the $399 package, that is the comparison worth doing. Just make sure you compare against the package containing the job you actually need, since Similarweb’s tiers differ a lot in coverage. The SEO tool pricing guide has the wider market.
Where Similarweb still fits
A competitor’s total traffic, their audience demographics, their marketing mix, their app installs and their market share. If you are sizing a market, briefing investors or picking which vertical to enter, that is Similarweb’s job and $199 is a reasonable price for it. The Similarweb MCP guide covers what its agent connection actually reads.
That is a quarterly question. The weekly one is what to change on the page in front of you, and that is the one $35 answers, with your own Search Console numbers rather than an estimate and the competitor’s organic footprint beside them. If you brief a board, run both. If you write the pages, start here.
Try it on Thursday’s decision
Pick the page you are supposed to improve this week and ask why it is not doing better.
That is the question $35 answers and $199 does not. Start the 7-day trial with 100 credits. A card is required, and it becomes $35 a month unless you cancel before the trial ends.
